Blantyre's Climate
Blantyre sits on the Shire Highlands in southern Malawi at around 1,000 metres, so its subtropical highland climate is far milder than its tropical latitude suggests. In the Southern Hemisphere, the warm rainy season runs November to April with showers, afternoon thunderstorms and high humidity, usually 22–28°C, while the cool dry season from May to August brings clear skies and chilly nights of just 8–12°C. September and October are the hottest months before the rains, climbing to 30–33°C. Thanks to its elevation, Blantyre rarely feels oppressively muggy and enjoys cooling south-easterly breezes.
