Kathmandu's Climate
Sitting in a valley at roughly 1,400 metres in the Himalayan foothills, Kathmandu enjoys a mild highland subtropical climate with four reasonably distinct seasons. Summer (June-September) coincides with the monsoon, bringing heavy rain and high humidity, while winter (December-February) is dry and sunny by day but cold at night, dropping near freezing with frost. Spring and autumn are cool and clear and make the best visiting seasons, though winter fog and trapped air pollution can build up in the valley.
