Lusaka's Climate

Lusaka is the capital of Zambia, set on the country's central plateau at about 1,280 m in the southern hemisphere, so although it lies in the tropics its altitude keeps the climate mild. The year splits into three seasons: a warm rainy season (November to April) with afternoon thunderstorms and showers that turn the land green; a cool dry season (May to August) with clear skies and chilly nights that can drop to 6–10°C; and a hot dry season (September to October) before the rains return, when daytime highs often reach 30–35°C. Humidity peaks in the middle of the wet season.
