Mogadishu's Climate

Mogadishu, the capital of Somalia, sits right on the Indian Ocean shore in the Horn of Africa and close to the equator, giving it a hot semi-arid climate with high, fairly steady temperatures year-round, usually 27–32°C. Despite the coastal setting rainfall is low and split into two short wet seasons that follow the monsoon: the main gu rains from about April to June and the shorter deyr rains around October to November. Between them are hot, dry stretches, with the strong southwest monsoon mid-year bringing muggy, dusty air. Sea breezes take some edge off the daytime heat.
