Cuenca's Climate
Cuenca lies in southern Ecuador, high in the Andes at around 2,560 m, close to the equator but kept cool and mild year-round by its elevation. Because it sits near the equator, temperatures vary little between seasons, typically 18–22°C by day and dropping to a chilly 7–11°C at night. The wet season (October–May) is cloudier with afternoon showers and thunderstorms, while the relatively dry season (June–September) is sunnier, drier and breezier. The daily temperature swing is large and UV is very strong owing to the altitude.
