Latakia's Climate
Latakia is Syria's principal Mediterranean port, set on the northwest coast and backed by coastal mountains, with a classic Mediterranean climate (Köppen Csa) of hot, dry summers and mild, wet winters. Summers (June–September) are almost rainless and sunny, with daytime highs of 28–32°C made muggy by high sea humidity, while winters (December–February) are gentle and damp, generally 10–16°C with the year's rain concentrated then. Spring and autumn are short, warm and pleasant. The mountains just inland shelter the city and keep it humid year-round.
