Mandalay's Climate
Mandalay lies in Myanmar's central Dry Zone on the banks of the Ayeyarwady River and has a hot tropical savanna climate with markedly less rain than the coast. The hot season (March–May) is parched, with daytime highs commonly 36–41°C and occasional spikes past 43°C, making it one of the country's most sweltering cities. The southwest monsoon (May–October) brings showers and thunderstorms, though far lighter than in Yangon, while the cool dry season (November–February) is pleasant, clear and crisp at night. Dust and haze can cut visibility late in the dry months.
