Matola's Climate
Matola lies in southern Mozambique, right beside the capital Maputo on the Indian Ocean coast, in a low, hot coastal belt. It has a tropical savanna climate with two clear seasons, reversed from the northern hemisphere. The hot, humid wet season runs from November to March, usually 28–33°C, with showers, thunderstorms and the occasional tropical cyclone spinning in from the Mozambique Channel; the cooler dry season, from May to September, is sunny and dry, with nights easing to 14–18°C. Sea breezes take the edge off the humidity along the coast.
