Philadelphia's Climate
Philadelphia lies in Pennsylvania in the northeastern United States, on the Delaware River and not far from the Atlantic coast, giving it a humid subtropical climate with four distinct seasons. Summers (June–August) are hot and humid, usually 28–34°C, with afternoon thunderstorms and occasional heat waves, while winters (December–February) are cold, often near 0°C, with snowfall and spells below freezing. Spring is mild and full of blossoms, and autumn (September–November) is cool, dry and vivid with turning leaves, the loveliest time of year. Late summer and early autumn can feel the remnants of tropical storms.
