Rotterdam's Climate
Rotterdam lies in the southwest of the Netherlands, on the Rhine–Meuse delta near the North Sea and almost at sea level, giving it a mild, humid temperate oceanic climate all year. The sea keeps temperatures from reaching extremes: summers (June–August) are cool and pleasant, usually 18–23°C by day with occasional short warm spells, while winters (December–February) are damp, cloudy and windy, around 3–7°C, with snow that rarely settles. Rain is spread fairly evenly across the months, and westerly winds off the North Sea blow strongly, especially in autumn and winter. Skies are often grey and overcast.
