Baoding's Climate
Baoding sits on the North China Plain in Hebei province, southwest of Beijing and well inland. The city has a monsoon-influenced humid continental climate with four sharply defined seasons and a wide temperature range. Summers (June–August) are hot and humid, with showers and thunderstorms concentrated in these months and highs typically 30–35°C, while winters (December–February) are cold and dry under the Siberian monsoon, with daytime highs around 0–5°C and nights below freezing. Spring is short and warms quickly but is windy and sometimes dusty, while autumn (September–November) is dry, cool and the loveliest time of year. Air quality tends to worsen in winter due to temperature inversions.
