Calgary's Climate
Calgary sits in Alberta in western Canada, on the prairies at the foot of the Rockies at around 1,045 m, giving it a dry, sunny continental climate with a wide temperature range. Summers (June–August) are mild and pleasant, usually 20–25°C by day, dry but prone to afternoon thunderstorms and occasional hail. Winters (December–February) are long, cold and dry, routinely below 0°C with deep cold snaps, yet warm chinook winds off the mountains can push temperatures above freezing within hours. Skies stay sunny for much of the year and humidity is low.
