Edmonton's Climate
Edmonton sits deep inland on the Canadian prairies of Alberta, at roughly 645 m elevation, giving it a northern humid continental climate with a huge annual temperature range. Winters (November–March) are long, dry and harsh, typically -15 to -25°C, with extreme Arctic cold snaps below -30°C, biting winds and deep snow. Summers (June–August) are warm, short and sunny at 20–25°C with occasional afternoon thunderstorms, and this is also the main rainy season. Spring and autumn are brief transitions with late or early snow. Edmonton is famous for its very long summer days, with nearly 17 hours of daylight.
