Changchun is the capital of Jilin province in northeast China, set deep inland on the Songliao plain, with a monsoon-influenced humid continental climate and four sharply contrasting seasons. Winters (November–March) are long, dry and very cold, usually -12 to -20°C and sometimes below -25°C, with snow and biting northwesterly winds.
