Changsha's Climate
Changsha, the capital of Hunan province, lies inland in south-central China along the Xiang River and has a humid subtropical climate with four distinct seasons. Summers (June–August) are very hot and sticky with high humidity, typically 33–38°C with showers and thunderstorms; Changsha is one of China's fabled "furnace" cities. Winters (December–February) are cold and damp, often overcast, with daytime highs of just 5–10°C that feel raw and penetrating. Spring brings prolonged drizzly rain, while autumn (September–November) is cool, dry and the most comfortable season of the year.
