Dortmund's Climate
Dortmund lies in the Ruhr area of North Rhine-Westphalia in western Germany, inland and shaped by a mild oceanic climate. Summers (June–August) are cool and pleasant, with daytime highs usually 20–25°C and the occasional short heatwave, while winters (December–February) are damp and chilly, hovering around 0–6°C with light snow and frost at times. Spring and autumn are mild, transitional and often cloudy. Rain falls fairly evenly all year thanks to westerly Atlantic airflow, leaving skies frequently grey and humid.
