Köln's Climate
Köln (Cologne) lies in western Germany on the banks of the Rhine, in the low-lying country near the Dutch and Belgian borders, with a temperate oceanic climate (Köppen Cfb). Tempered by the sea and Atlantic air, the weather is mild and damp year-round. Summers (June–August) are pleasantly warm, typically 20–26°C, with occasional heatwaves above 30°C. Winters (December–February) are mild and moist, usually 1–7°C, rarely bitter but often cloudy with fog and drizzle. Rain falls fairly evenly through the year, and spring and autumn are cool and changeable.
