Guankou's Climate
Guankou lies in Hunan province in central China, in the Xiang River basin near Changsha, deep inland at around 28°N. It has a humid subtropical monsoon climate with four clear seasons. Summers (June–August) are hot and muggy, usually 30–37°C, with heavy showers and thunderstorms concentrated in the plum-rain spell of May to July, while winters (December–February) turn cool to cold and damp, around 3–10°C, with occasional frost. Spring and autumn are pleasant transitional seasons, autumn being the driest and most comfortable. Humidity stays high year-round and the rainy peak falls in early summer.
