Haikou's Climate
Haikou is the capital of Hainan Province, on the northern tip of Hainan Island along the Qiongzhou Strait in southeastern China. As a tropical coastal city, it has a tropical monsoon climate that stays hot and humid almost year-round, split into clear wet and dry seasons. The cooler dry season (November–March) is pleasant, with daytime highs usually 20–26°C, while the hot, humid wet season (May–October) is muggy with frequent showers and thunderstorms, typically 30–34°C by day. This is also tropical cyclone season, which can bring heavy rain and strong winds off the South China Sea. Humidity stays high throughout.
