Handan's Climate
Handan lies in southern Hebei province on the North China Plain, deep inland at about 36.6°N and near the foot of the Taihang Mountains. It has a monsoon-influenced humid continental climate with four sharply distinct seasons. Summers (June–August) are hot and humid, usually 30–36°C, with thundery rain concentrated in July and August under the East Asian monsoon, while winters (December–February) are cold and dry, typically -3 to 6°C, with biting northerly winds. Spring is dry, warms quickly and can bring dust storms off the north, while autumn is cool, dry and the most comfortable season. Air quality tends to worsen in winter.
