Hangzhou's Climate
Hangzhou sits in the Yangtze River delta in Zhejiang province in eastern China, at the southern end of the Grand Canal and beside its famous West Lake. It has a humid subtropical monsoon climate (Koppen Cfa) with four distinct seasons and high humidity year-round. Summers (June–August) are hot, muggy and sticky, with highs usually of 32–37°C; early summer brings the drizzly plum-rain season, while late summer and early autumn can feel the edge of passing typhoons. Winters (December–February) are cold and damp, with many days around 3–8°C and only rare snow. Spring is wet with drizzle, and autumn (September–November) is cool, dry and the loveliest time.
