Luanda's Climate
Luanda, the capital of Angola, lies on the Atlantic coast in the Southern Hemisphere and has a hot, coastal semi-arid climate. Because it sits south of the equator, its seasons are reversed from Asia: a hot, humid rainy season runs from October to April, with afternoon storms and highs of 28–32°C, while a cooler, drier season known locally as cacimbo lasts from May to September, bringing little rain, hazy grey skies and milder temperatures around 23–27°C. Annual rainfall stays low thanks to the cold Benguela current offshore. Coastal humidity is consistently high.
