Lüliang's Climate
Lüliang sits in western Shanxi province on the Loess Plateau of northern China, and its hilly, elevated terrain gives it a markedly continental, temperate monsoon climate. Summers (June–August) are mild to warm, with daytime highs usually 26–31°C and rain concentrated in showers and thunderstorms; the altitude keeps the heat from turning oppressive. Winters (November–March) are cold, dry and long, with many sub-zero days, dry northerly winds and little snow. The day-to-night temperature swing is large year-round, and spring and autumn are short and dry. Spring can occasionally bring dust haze blown from the northern deserts.
