Mianyang's Climate
Mianyang lies in the northern part of the Sichuan Basin in southwestern China, deep inland beside rivers flowing down from the mountains, and has a humid subtropical climate shaped by the monsoon. Summers (June–August) are hot, humid and muggy, with frequent showers and thunderstorms and highs of 28–34°C amid high humidity; this is also the main rainy season. Winters (December–February) are cool and damp, seldom colder than 5°C but famously cloudy, foggy and short on sunshine, a hallmark of the basin. Spring and autumn are mild and pleasant. Overcast skies and high humidity define much of the year.
