Nanjing's Climate
Nanjing lies on the lower Yangtze River in Jiangsu province in eastern China, inland but near the great river delta. It has a humid subtropical monsoon climate (Koppen Cfa) with four distinct seasons and high humidity year-round. Summers (June–August) are hot, muggy and sticky, with highs usually of 32–37°C, and the city is known as one of the hottest in the Yangtze basin; early summer brings the damp, drizzly plum-rain season. Winters (December–February) are cold and damp, with many days around 0–5°C and occasional snow. Spring is wet with drizzle, and autumn (September–November) is cool, dry and the most comfortable time.
