Pikine's Climate
Pikine sits on the Cap-Vert peninsula near Dakar, the capital of Senegal, on the Atlantic coast of West Africa's Sahel, with a hot semi-arid climate tempered by sea breezes. The year splits into a long dry season (November–May), sunny and dry with temperatures usually 24–30°C and cooled by the ocean, and a short rainy season (July–October) when the monsoon brings showers, thunderstorms and high humidity, with highs around 27–32°C. From December to February the dry harmattan sometimes carries Saharan dust. Overall the coast is milder and more humid than the Sahel interior.
