Touba's Climate

Touba lies in central Senegal, inland within the Sahel belt, and has a hot semi-arid climate with one long dry season and one short rainy season. For most of the year (roughly November–May) it is hot and dry, with strong sunshine, low humidity and the dusty harmattan wind blowing off the Sahara; daytime highs easily reach 35–40°C at the late-dry-season peak. The short rainy season (roughly June–October) is driven by the southwest monsoon, bringing thunderstorms and showers that ease the heat and green the landscape.
