Sanya's Climate
Sanya sits at the southern tip of Hainan Island in China, on the South China Sea, a popular beach resort with a hot, humid tropical monsoon climate nearly year-round. Summer and autumn (May–October) form the wet season, hot and sticky with showers, thunderstorms and a risk of tropical cyclones, and daytime highs typically 31–34°C, while the cooler dry season runs November to April, bringing sunny skies, little rain and a comfortable 25–28°C that draws crowds escaping the mainland cold. Lying near the Tropic of Cancer beside the sea, Sanya has essentially no cold winter.
