Suzhou's Climate
Suzhou lies in the lower Yangtze delta in Jiangsu province, eastern China, a low-lying land of lakes and canals with a humid subtropical climate and four clear seasons. Summers (June–August) are hot and sticky with high humidity, usually 31–35°C, bringing frequent showers, thunderstorms and the occasional typhoon, while winters (December–February) are chilly, damp and overcast, around 3–8°C but seldom snowy. Between late spring and early summer comes the drawn-out plum rains (meiyu), a spell of relentless drizzle, whereas autumn (September–November) is dry, cool and the loveliest time of year.
