Tainan's Climate
Tainan sits on the coastal plain of southwestern Taiwan beside the Taiwan Strait and has a hot, humid tropical monsoon climate with a clear split between wet and dry seasons. Summers (May–September) are hot and muggy, usually 28–34°C with frequent afternoon showers and thunderstorms, and this is also typhoon season, with storms possible from July to September. Winters (December–February) turn dry, warm and sunny, around 15–23°C, and rarely dip below 12°C. Most rainfall falls in the summer months, leaving winter noticeably drier than the north of the island.
