Tanta's Climate
Tanta sits in the middle of the Nile delta in northern Egypt, midway between Cairo and Alexandria and some way inland from the Mediterranean coast. It has a hot desert climate, though tempered by the delta and the sea to the north. Summers (May–September) are hot and dry, usually 33–37°C by day, with humidity edging up thanks to the nearby Mediterranean, while winters (December–February) are mild and cool, around 18–20°C by day and dipping to 6–9°C at night, with occasional light rain. Spring can bring the hot, dry khamsin wind carrying dust off the desert. Skies are sunny nearly all year.
