Tianshui's Climate
Tianshui sits in south-eastern Gansu province, in the Wei River valley deep inland in north-western China, with a mild semi-arid continental climate and four distinct seasons. Thanks to its transitional position and moderate elevation, it is gentler than many nearby regions: summers (June–August) are warm, usually 26–30°C by day, with rainfall concentrated in this period; winters (December–February) are cold and dry, around 3–8°C by day and below freezing at night but not severe; spring and autumn are dry, cool and settled, generally the most pleasant time of year. Total annual rainfall is on the low side.
