Wuzhong's Climate
Wuzhong lies in China's Ningxia region in the arid northwest, on the Yellow River near the edge of the Tengger Desert, and has a cold semi-arid continental climate. Because it sits deep inland at roughly 1,100 m elevation, it sees very large day-to-night temperature swings and little rainfall, most of it in summer. Summers (June–August) are hot and dry, with daytime highs often 28–34°C but much cooler nights, while winters (December–February) are bitterly cold and parched, frequently below freezing under Siberian cold surges. Spring and autumn are short, windy and dusty, with occasional sandstorms.
