Xi’an's Climate
Xi'an sits in the Guanzhong basin along the Wei River, deep inland in central China and ringed by mountains. It has a monsoon-influenced humid continental climate (Koppen Dwa) with four clear seasons. Summers (June–August) are hot and humid with frequent showers and thunderstorms, highs usually of 30–36°C, and this is also the wettest part of the year, while winters (December–February) are cold and dry, with many days near 0°C, thick fog and only light snow. Spring is dry, windy and dusty, and autumn (September–October) is cool, dry and the loveliest time of year.
