Yantai's Climate
Yantai sits on the Shandong Peninsula, on the shores of the Yellow and Bohai seas in north-eastern China, with a coastal temperate monsoon climate: four distinct seasons moderated by the sea, so milder than inland. Summers (June–September) are warm and humid, usually 27–31°C, with showers and thunderstorms concentrated in July and August. Winters (December–February) are cold and drier, with daytime highs around 0–5°C, biting north winds and snow, sometimes heavy lake-effect snow off the Bohai Gulf. Spring and autumn are mild, dry and sunny, the most pleasant times of year.
