Yichang's Climate
Yichang lies in western Hubei province in central China, on the Yangtze River just downstream of the Three Gorges Dam, where the plains meet the hills to the west, at about 30.7°N. It has a humid subtropical monsoon climate with four clear seasons. Summers (June–August) are hot and muggy, usually 30–37°C, with clustered thunderstorms and very high humidity during the plum-rain spell, while winters (December–February) are cool and damp, typically 3–9°C, with snow rare. The nearby hills make fog and low cloud fairly common in late autumn and winter. Autumn (September–November) is dry, cool and the most comfortable time of year.
