Yinchuan's Climate

Yinchuan is the capital of the Ningxia region in northwestern China, set deep inland along the Yellow River and close to desert country, giving it a cold semi-arid climate (Köppen BSk) with large temperature swings. Winter (November–March) is very cold and dry, usually −8 to −15°C with biting winds, while summer (June–August) is hot and dry, with daytime highs typically 28–34°C and a big day-to-night temperature difference. Rainfall is scarce and concentrated in July–September, while spring is prone to strong winds and dust storms blown in from the deserts. Skies are generally dry and sunny year-round.
