Agadir's Climate

Agadir lies on Morocco's Atlantic coast in the south, where the Atlas mountains meet the desert, and has a semi-arid climate moderated by the ocean and the cool Canary Current. That sea influence gives it near year-round sunshine without extreme heat. Summers (June–September) are warm and dry, typically 24–28°C, far milder than the interior, while winters (December–February) are gentle, around 18–22°C by day, with a few brief spells of light rain. Rainfall is scarce and mostly falls in the winter months, leaving much of the year dry and clear. Coastal mornings can bring a thin sea mist.

Frequently asked questions

When is the best time to visit Agadir?

Agadir is pleasant almost year-round, but April to June and September to November are best: warm sun, dry skies and calm seas.

Is Agadir hot in summer?

Not very, thanks to sea breezes and the Canary Current; coastal summers usually stay 24–28°C, much cooler than inland Morocco.

When does it rain in Agadir?

Rain is sparse and falls mostly in winter, from November to March, usually as short bursts of light rain before the skies clear again.

Does Agadir have strong sun and high UV?

Yes, with its low latitude and clear skies, the UV index is often high to very high from spring through autumn, so sun protection is wise.
