Meknes's Climate
Meknes lies in northern Morocco on an inland plateau at the foot of the Middle Atlas, at roughly 500 m elevation, giving its Mediterranean climate a distinctly continental edge. Summers (June–September) are hot and dry, with daytime highs of 30–36°C and occasional spikes above 40°C when the hot chergui wind blows in from the desert, though the altitude cools the nights. Winters (December–February) are mild and damp, around 12–17°C by day but dropping to 3–6°C at night with the odd frost. Most rain falls between November and April, while spring and autumn are gentle and green.
