Antalya's Climate

Antalya lies on the Mediterranean coast of southwestern Turkey, at the foot of the soaring Taurus Mountains, and has a classic Mediterranean climate of hot, dry summers and mild, wet winters. Summers (June–September) are long, sunny and sultry, usually 30–35°C with high coastal humidity and almost no rain. Winters (December–February) are gentle, typically 10–16°C by day, and form the main rainy season with heavy downpours, while snow blankets the nearby peaks. Spring and autumn are short, warm and very pleasant. UV levels are extreme in summer.

Frequently asked questions

When is the best time to visit Antalya?

Late spring (April–June) and early autumn (September–October) are best: warm, sunny, dry and with sea temperatures still pleasant for swimming.

What are the hottest months in Antalya?

July and August are hottest, usually 32–35°C, intensely sunny and humid by the coast, occasionally topping 38°C.

Does Antalya get rain and snow?

Rain concentrates in winter from November to March with heavy bursts; the coastal city rarely sees snow, but the neighbouring Taurus range is deeply snow-covered.

How high does the UV index get in Antalya?

In summer UV routinely reaches very high to extreme around midday, so strong sun protection is essential at the beach or outdoors.
