İzmir's Climate
İzmir is a major port city on Turkey's Aegean coast in the west of the country, wrapped around a long bay that reaches inland. It has a classic Mediterranean climate with hot, dry summers and mild, wet winters. Summers (June–September) are sunny and rainless, with daytime highs usually 30–35°C, while winters (December–February) turn mild and rainy, hovering around 10–15°C by day with frost a rare event. Spring and autumn are cool, comfortable transition seasons. A sea breeze off the bay tends to ease the afternoon heat in summer.
