Kallakurichi's Climate
Kallakurichi sits inland in Tamil Nadu, southern India, some tens of kilometres from the Bay of Bengal coast, and has a hot tropical-savanna climate with three distinct seasons. Summer (March–June) is hot and dry, with daytime highs typically 34–40°C and a sultry build-up before the rains arrive; the southwest monsoon (June–September) brings cloudier, humid weather with scattered but modest rainfall; and the main wet season comes with the northeast monsoon (October–December), when heavy showers and thunderstorms fall, occasionally boosted by depressions off the Bay of Bengal. December to February is cool and dry, the pleasantest stretch of the year.
