Mumbai has a coastal tropical monsoon climate, hot and humid for most of the year with little seasonal variation in temperature. The southwest monsoon (June–September) delivers enormous rainfall, often exceeding 2,000mm in just a few months and frequently causing serious flooding. Before the rains, March to May is the most oppressively hot and humid period, while the pleasant dry season runs from November to February.
The southwest monsoon usually arrives in early June and lasts through late September, bringing very heavy, persistent rain that can cause widespread flooding.
From November to February, after the monsoon has passed, when humidity eases and the dry weather is most comfortable, with daytime highs around 28–32°C.
Never snow. Even in the coolest months, nighttime temperatures rarely fall below 16–18°C, so Mumbai stays warm all year.
April and May, just before the monsoon, are the hottest and most humid, with temperatures around 33–35°C that feel stifling due to high humidity.
