Pune's Climate
Pune sits on the Deccan Plateau in Maharashtra in western India, east of the Western Ghats, and its elevation of around 560 m makes its climate milder than the nearby coast. The city has a tropical savanna climate with three clear seasons. The hot season (March–May) is dry and sultry, with daytime highs usually 35–40°C. The southwest monsoon (June–September) is cooler, humid and rainy. Winter (November–February) is mild and dry, with pleasant daytime highs of 28–30°C and nights that can dip to 10–12°C. Thanks to its altitude, Pune's winter nights are far cooler than in many other Indian cities.
