Peshawar's Climate
Peshawar lies in a valley in northwest Pakistan, near the Khyber Pass and the Afghan border, with a hot semi-arid climate of fierce summers and mild winters. Summers (May–September) are scorching and dry, with daytime highs commonly 38–42°C and sometimes above 45°C, before a weak late monsoon brings showers and thunderstorms in July and August. Winters (December–February) are cool and relatively wet, around 5–17°C, taking most of the rainfall from western disturbances, with occasional overnight frost. Spring and autumn are short, pleasant and the best times to visit.
