Prayagraj's Climate
Prayagraj sits in south-eastern Uttar Pradesh in northern India, on the Ganges plain at the confluence of great rivers, and has a humid subtropical climate (Köppen Cwa). Summers (April–June) are scorching and dry, usually 40–45°C with the searing loo wind; the south-west monsoon then arrives from July to September, bringing heavy rain, thunderstorms and high humidity. Winters (December–February) are cool and dry, around 22–26°C by day but dropping to 8–10°C at night, with thick morning fog. Air quality often deteriorates in winter.
