Ranchi's Climate
Ranchi is the capital of Jharkhand in eastern India, perched on the Chota Nagpur plateau at around 650 m, which keeps it noticeably cooler than the surrounding plains. The city has a monsoon-influenced humid subtropical climate with three clear seasons. Summers (March–May) are warm and dry, usually 30–38°C but with milder nights thanks to the elevation; the monsoon (June–September) brings heavy rain, high humidity and cooler air; winters (November–February) are dry and cool, with crisp mornings dipping to 8–12°C and occasional fog. Its altitude once earned Ranchi a reputation as a summer hill retreat.
