Srinagar's Climate
Srinagar sits in the Kashmir Valley at about 1,585 m in the Himalayas and has a subtropical highland climate with four clear seasons and a wide temperature range. Summers (June–August) are mild, with daytime highs usually 24–31°C, far more comfortable than the sweltering plains to the south. Winters (December–February) are bitterly cold, dipping below freezing, with snowfall blanketing the city and lakes that can ice over. Spring (March–May) is cool and wet and brings tulip and almond blossom, while autumn is dry with golden foliage.
