Belo Horizonte's Climate
Belo Horizonte, the capital of Minas Gerais, sits on a highland plateau in southeastern Brazil at around 850 m in the Southern Hemisphere. Its elevation gives it a mild, pleasant tropical highland climate year-round. Being south of the equator, its seasons are reversed from Asia: a warm rainy season runs from October to March, with afternoon showers and thunderstorms and highs typically 27–30°C, while a cool dry season from May to September brings little rain, clear skies and warm days but crisp nights that can dip to 10–13°C. Humidity falls sharply during the dry months.
