Salvador's Climate
Salvador sits on the Atlantic coast of Bahia in northeastern Brazil, close to the equator, giving it a hot, humid tropical climate that stays warm year-round with little seasonal swing. Because it lies in the Southern Hemisphere the seasons are reversed: the drier, warmer stretch runs from September to March, while the wettest period falls in April–July with heavy downpours. Temperatures hover between 24–30°C all year, tempered by the steady Atlantic trade winds that ease the mugginess. Humidity stays high and the UV index is very strong thanks to the low latitude.
